Upon joining the company, I inherited responsibilities to overhaul and complete a web applicationredesign for a real estate company serving 10 Cities in California. The site includes robust search and filtering options with the ability to search by city, community, or MLS number. Each of these three levels is also displayed on a color-coded Google Maps interface, which uses version 3 of the JavaScript API. You can click deeper by clicking the map polygons and markers or list items outside of the map. My major contributions to this project included:• I rewrote the backend procedural PHP/MySQL code into the CodeIgniter (Object Oriented, MVC) framework, which greatly improved site speed and security. I was new to the CodeIgniter framework and was able to learn it in just a few hours.• Fixed various bugs and added new enhancements to the JavaScript/jQuery intense front-end.• I re-wrote the existing property import system to now import property data from the CaliforniaReal Estate Technology Services (CARETS) database, which now populates the site with over5,000 properties, 775 communities in 10 California cities.• I re-wrote and fixed many bugs in the previously post-import scripts to now execute them as partof the import process making the overall process much more simpler, quicker, accurate and secure.
