Chief Technology Officer
Qredo provides a secure communications platform for all kinds of messaging on everything from devices to phones and tablets, to PCs and all the way up to Enterprise systems. Most messaging transports start completely unsecure and it is up to the developers and administrators, and sometimes even users, to apply the specific security controls, depending on the business requirements. This requires deep skill and the expense creates an incentive to use as little security as possible. Even in cases where the skill and resources are available, the fact that there are thousands of implementations mean some portion of them will get it wrong. This is a huge problem.Qredo solves it because there is no unsecure mode. If it's running, it's secure. In addition, Qredo seeks to enforce as much as possible through architecture and cryptography and leave as little as possible to enforcement through policy. My role in Qredo is real simple: make sure the implementation lives up to the promise and is something I'd personally use. If ever we have a product I do not use and believe in, that's the day I resign.
Websphere Connectivity & Integration Product Management
Product management responsibility for security aspects of IBM's SOA and Connectivity products worldwide including WebSphere MQ, WebSphere MQ File Transfer Edition, WebSphere MQ Advanced Message Security.
Senior Managing Consultant
I am currently a WebSphere MQ security specialist within IBM's Software Services for WebSphere group. In addition to consulting, I have published articles on WebSphere MQ security in developerWorks Tech Journal and speak at conferences worldwide.
Vice President
Senior middleware administrator managing WebSphere MQ primarily and also Sonic MQ and Tibco messaging products. Specialty in WebSphere MQ clusters and security.
Independent Consultant
Consulting software architect employed by Reconda Corporation designing the user interface and functionality of their QN-AppWatch software.
Programmer
Programmed reports and maintenance of various check authorization and consumer credit database systems.
Programmer
Led the conversion of the Student Information System from the Honeywell to an IBM system based on CICS. Later worked primarily on the Student Reporting systems. My previous Operator and Syncsort experience enabled me to optimize use of computer hardware such as tape drives so my jobs ran fast without hogging resources. Implemented variable-length tables and binary sort in the COBOL student assignment program which shaved run time from over 6 hours to under half an hour, saving the school board several million dollars the first year. Subsequently became known for performance tuning and hacking the "toy" interactive COBOL system into a full-featured batch report customization and scheduling system.I also created a COBOL subroutine that calculates student absences based on attendance records and policies for different grade levels. For example, in High school an absence is based in part on proportion of enrolled classes attended for the day. This subroutine was implemented in all student reporting programs and for the first time ever they all reconciled correctly to one another. I'm told it was still in use some ten years after I left.
Computer Operator
Single operator on 2nd or 3rd shift, solely responsible for managing the nightly Production batch runs on an IBM 4381 running VMS and CICS. Tasks included managing the job schedule, mounting tapes, keeping the high-speed printers fed with paper and forms, managing the print queue and running the scratch list. Became known for the ability to diagnose ailing tape and disk drives by the way they sounded and wizardry with Easytrieve, Syncsort and macros.
