Tim is focused on the fast-paced legal areas supporting businesses and invention. At Sage, Tim has built his practice around assisting his clients successfully draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements including SaaS, technology licensing, manufacturing, supply chain, and logistics agreements. He has also worked with a variety of businesses on strategic development and licensing of intellectual property portfolios, including patents, trademarks, and trade secrets. Beyond these areas, Tim has helped clients by aiding them in securing funding from venture capital and private equity firms, and guiding his clients through complex multiparty mergers and acquisitions.Tim joined Sage Law Group after spending time as an in-house attorney at an early-stage technology start-up, where he ran the entire legal department and oversaw much of the company's day-to-day operations. Prior to that, Tim was worked at a national law firm where he gained significant experience representing companies of various sizes and at various stages of maturity. Tim's ability to guide his clients toward positive outcomes has led them to trust him as in integral part of their business teams. Clients benefit from Tim’s strong background in technology and life sciences, which helps him to understand their innovations and see their potential. Before embarking on his legal career, Tim was a developmental neurobiologist at Vanderbilt University, where he earned his Master’s degree. While there, he gained insight into the scientific process and issues related to inventions stemming from laboratories and academic institutions.When he is not in the office, Tim can be found with his wife and children. Like all good Coloradans, they take full advantage of the great outdoors, and particularly enjoy biking, hiking, and rock climbing.

He assisted clients with entity formation and corporate governance, helped them secure financing, and drafted and negotiated contracts and agreements that furthered their business goals.

As an attorney, Tim has experience helping clients protect and monetize technologies including pharmaceuticals, genetics, medical devices, artificial intelligence and machine learning, and various mechanical and biomechanical technologies.Before joining the firm, Tim was an associate in the Boulder office of a full service law firm that specializes in serving startup and emerging businesses. He assisted clients with corporate formation, governance, and financing including related regulatory issues, commercial contracts and licensing, and patent and trademark counseling and prosecution.

He has also provided for various business needs including entity formation, financing, and contract drafting and negotiation. Mr. Simmons earned his Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado School of Law in Boulder, Colorado, where he participated in the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic and earned a certificate in Entrepreneurial Law, demonstrating his commitment to understanding the complex needs of today’s emerging businesses.
