I was approached at the start of 2014 to bring "real life"​ context to students with an interest in communications, marketing, creative copy-writing and account management. The 12 week semester required a weekly hour long lecture, plus a two hour tutorial to examine and discuss case studies, learn the theory around planning and buying media, but most critically, place consumer understanding and insight at the heart and start of all communications planning. It was terrifying, exhausting, frustrating, enlightening and enormously rewarding. Despite the long hours involved above and beyond my demanding day job, I'm teaching my course for the third time now, to first year students in semester 2 2015. The course has evolved, I have evolved and I hope my students are learning as much as I am.I realise not many are lucky enough to have the opportunity to teach presented to them so far into a specialised career path. I hope to continue teaching as the experience is second to none other
