Executive Management Intern

Bryan, Texas, United States

During my tenure as the Executive Management Intern at the City of Bryan, I was involved in several projects that provided valuable insights to city leadership. One of my early projects was conducting a Microtransit Analysis. This project involved researching microtransit programs in other cities, such as Kyle, Pflugerville, Round Rock, and Arlington. I gathered information and data from city staff and consulting firms, which culminated in a comprehensive report submitted to city management. This analysis aimed to explore the feasibility and potential benefits of implementing a microtransit system in Bryan, which could enhance local transportation options and improve mobility for residents.Other critical projects involved the drafting of various RFPs, RFBs, and RFQs. Examples include an RFP for the design and reconstruction of raised medians along FM 158, an RFB for a new evidence storage facility, and an RFB for constructing a boathouse at Travis Bryan Midtown Park. These documents required careful attention to detail in defining project scopes, submission requirements, and evaluation criteria, ensuring they met the city’s standards and attracted qualified bidders.A notable achievement during my internship was my involvement in the Open Container Policy initiative. I conducted thorough research on cities in Texas with open container and consumption laws, preparing for the City Council's impending action to alter Bryan's alcohol ordinances. This involved compiling previous research, gathering additional information from various cities, and creating a GIS map to illustrate businesses in downtown Bryan with liquor licenses. A detailed report was given to the City Council, outlining potential policy actions, the legal framework, and the implications for our Downtown Area. This project ultimately led to a new city ordinance passed by council to allow open consumption in Downton Bryan.
