I am the CEO/Founder of The Next Step Foundation Team Brandon. We present our story, from the offender’s point of view, about the life-altering effects of impaired driving, to schools, Victim Impact Panels and community groups throughout the valley. Brandon was only 21 when he suffered a severe traumatic brain injury from a motor vehicle crash in 2001. In one split second, our lives dramatically changed. He had been drinking and chose to get behind the wheel. That choice took the life of his best friend, injured another friend physically and emotionally, and permanently altered Brandon’s chances of living an independent life without round-the-clock care. I pushed my 6ft. 200lb. son through marathons spreading our VOW TO DRIVE SOBER® message to hundreds of thousands of runners and spectators. On January 21, 2019, Brandon went to Heaven, where he independently be running free, retiring from the Team, exactly six years after our first full marathon. Ultimately, after serving a life sentence trapped in his body and mind for almost 18 years his final outcome was the death penalty. I have chosen to carry on Brandon's legacy by continuing the life-saving work we started together in 2012. My husband is without a doubt the most amazing man on earth. God blessed me when he brought him into my life. I have 3 beautiful daughters with unique personalities, who will drop everything to help me when I am in need. I am so proud of each of them, I have 4 grandchildren, 2 girls & 2 boys. Love spending time with all of them! Without a doubt God & family are the most important things in my life.
