As I look back over my 35+ years as a financial planner and the clients I’ve been able to help, I am humbled. I understand life changes and events that can lead one down a different path than previously planned as I have experienced many of those throughout my own life. One such event was a career change 37 years ago.I studied Chemistry as an undergrad at Purdue University and my graduate studies in Textile Chemistry at Clemson University where I developed many skills such as defining problems and comparing alternative solutions. When the chemistry career doors came to a close, a financial opportunity door opened and those things I learned during my chemistry career translated over to my financial career. I am a problem solver by nature and enjoy strategizing ways that will have the best results for my clients. I’ve learned that having good “chemistry” with clients is just as important.Building relationships is key to understanding a client’s desires and needs to sustain the kind of lifestyle one hopes to maintain during retirement. We work together as a team to customize a plan for each individual’s circumstances and goals. Financial planning isn’t just about accumulating wealth, but having a plan in place for life changes and during retirement and how best to distribute money during those stages in life. Many want to know at what age they will be able to retire. I help folks figure out what their red line is…how long they have until they will run out of money. Together, we will then strategize a way to stretch those dollars out to ease that worry with things like saving money on taxes, etc. and things people may not have thought about before.I enjoy figuring out the right “formulas” to strategize ways to build a strong foundation, giving people confidence and peace of mind. My client’s needs are of the utmost importance and I will always look out for the best interest of my clients above anything else.
