Dr. Brown is a clinical psychologist who received his Ph.D. from Yale University. He is Director of the Brown Clinic for Attention and Related Disorders in Manhattan Beach, CA. He also serves as Clinical Professor of Psychiatry and Neuroscience at the University of California Riverside School of Medicine. His clinic specializes in assessment and treatment of high IQ children, adolescents and adults with ADHD and related problems. After 20 years of serving on the clinical faculty of psychiatry at the Yale School of Medicine Dr. Brown relocated to California in 2017. He is an elected Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Society for Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and the Division of Psychopharmacology and Substance Abuse of the APA.He has presented papers, workshops and symposia at national meetings of the American Academy of Pediatrics, American Psychological Association, American Psychiatric Association, American Academy of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, National Association of School Psychologists, American College of Nurse Practitioners, International Neuropsychological Society, the National Attention Deficit Disorder Association and CHADD. He has given invited lectures and workshops in universities, medical schools and advocacy groups throughout the U.S. and in more than 40 other countries. He has published 7 books on ADHD and 40 papers in peer-reviewed journals. His most recent books are Smart But Stuck: Emotions in Teens and Adults with ADHD (2014, Jossey-Bass/Wiley); Outside the Box: Rethinking ADHD in Children and Adults-A Practical Guide (2017, American Psychiatric Publishing); ADHD and Asperger Syndrome in Smart Kids and Adults (2021, Routledge). Dr. Brown received an award of honor by the National Attention Deficit Disorder Assn. He has been inducted into the CHADD Hall of Fame for outstanding contributions to research and professional education about ADHD in children and adults.
