CurrentI’m an engineer, educator, and founder of Tech Camp, the only specialised hands-on engineering camp for young people where all the projects they create are taken home at the end of the camp.I studied Electronic Engineering at the University of Queensland in Australia and then worked in the fields of embedded electronics and software. I also studied education, and after working in schools in Australia, moved to the UK in 2001, taking up a post as Head of Science at Elstree School. In 2008 I founded Tech Camp, and then in 2010 this grew into a full-time business.I’ve also written articles for trade journals, developed workshops for the Science Museum, Maker Faires and the Abu Dhabi Science Festival and have appeared on BBC and Sky News discussing technology and computing education. I’m passionate about engineering, inventing and encouraging practical hands-on technology for young people. As well as continuing to design some of the unique high-tech projects for Tech Camp, I also still do some custom electronic design for clients. Most recently I designed an in-air laser tag system for a Channel 4 programme recreating the Battle of Britain with remote-controlled planes, complete with pyrotechnic smoke effects, and utilising a head-tracking FPV video piloting system. This was made into a three-part series which can be seen here: https://www.channel4.com/programmes/battle-of-britain-model-squadron..
