Hired to create in-house ecommerce solution to allow rapid rollout of highly customized ecommerce stores forclients of company transitioning from order fulfillment to ecommerce management business model. In charge ofall internet facing programs and several legacy systems as well as development and maintenance of in-houseecommerce solution. Key player on 2-person development team, handling high-level planning and design.Impact: Retained business of several high-profile clients by creating solid ecommerce framework.Directly impacted bottom-line and business sustainability by providing both ecommerce and orderfulfillment solutions in one place as well as increasing stability and redundancy of several key systems. Completely re-architected solution resulting in substantial performance improvements, including acceleration of page render time from several seconds to ~500ms and handling of triple-size load with half the hardware. Created ecommerce solution from scratch for management of a large number of disparate stores using Ruby on Rails, resulting in use by several revenue-producing stores within short timeframe (~4 months). Participated in 2 company physical relocations, ensuring proper network setup and operations prior to next business day with minimal disruption to daily ordering and call center activities. Selected new co-location and orchestrated move after unexpected scheduled shutdown of current facility. Kept clients happy and their sites running with only a few hours downtime. Overhauled legacy system handling incoming electronic order processing by implementing a drop-in replacement of antiquated system with little documentation. Later designed and deployed a more modern and competent replacement.

Recruited by medium-sized publications printing company to help develop Java-based CMS system for use increating and managing website for magazine clients.Impact: One of 3 developers on CMS system project with accountability for most of e-commercefunctionality as well as several other key features. Tasked with creating system to track pre-press workflow to replace current paper-based system. Implemented and trialed system at end of initial development cycle. Increased billing accuracy by developing new web-based pre-press tracking system, utilizing Ruby on Rails and AJAX to reduce client wait times. Designed, specified, and built middleware between existing and new MRP systems, using Python.
