Have joined an incredibly ambitious programme to implement the Epic EHR across 2 major London hospitals - Guy's and St Thomas's plus Kings college Hospital. This involves 40,000+ users and my role is to help the clinical and operational staff understand the main changes and be prepared for them.

Joined as the Digital Director just before the pandemic and became the acting CIO during one of the most exciting times in digital transformation. We delivered a full online learning solution that aimed to improve our previous offer, rather than just digitising our way of working. We achieved so much during the two years of the pandemic, including the roll-out of MFA and a cyber-security programme, plus supporting our academics as they embraced new digital tools and teaching techniques and a number of innovative projects to improve our student experience. This gave us a fantastic start point to move forward and utilise digital technologies to enhance and augment all aspects of university life as we deliver our strategy for 2030. Our vision is to create a greener, healthier and fairer future in the decade ahead and we will use digital technologies to transform both ‘what we do’, through the use of research, insight and data, and ‘how we do it’, through our workplace design, the skills we develop, the way we work and collaborate. My role was to create the digital culture to support this change, to help create the digital strategy, to determine the contents of the implementation programme (supporting that through its delivery) and to champion digital adoption throughout the organisation.

To support the creation and delivery of a Digital Programme that will embed a digital culture within the University of Exeter. This is not a big system change, it’s cultural, and will evolve over time. The programme will encourage and support all students and staff to look to digital for solutions, improvements and support. It will make the university more accessible, virtually erasing boundaries and connecting hubs of learning, augmenting the way we study, work and research. The programme consists of delivering digital technologies and simultaneously supporting people to fully utilise these.

I am working on an assignment for the amazing Salford Royal Hospital. An Integrated Care Organisation has been created by bringing a number of organisations together with the strategic aim of improving the population health for the people of Salford. This requires a change to the commisioning arrangements, the pooling of budgets and the creation of a technology infrastructure that supports the sharing of data.There is a digital strategy already and a number of 'tests of change' have been established. My role is to progress this to the next stage. If you have any good lessons learned from risk stratification projects, I would be very interested to hear about them.

After 35 years working in technology, 13 of them in the healthcare sector I have found my perfect role! I have recently joined KPMG in Ireland as the Director of Digital Health. Why am I excited about digital health and what does this mean? The global opportunity to make a difference to healthcare using technology is huge. Here in Ireland there is an ehealth programme which will deliver a digitally connected health experience for all citizens and there are many exciting projects that are part of this.Digital is changing the way everyone thinks about using technology and this is just starting to happen in healthcare. People’s expectations have changed and the use of social networks has deeply changed their communication and consumption habits.
