Rebecca Young is an ISTE Certified Educator and a Google Certified Educator, Trainer, and Coach. She is currently the Learning Specialist at Aux Sable Middle School and the Lead Instructional Technology Coach supporting all teachers in Plainfield District 202. Previously, she was a high school science educator and taught biology, chemistry, and AP Environmental Science in the district. Becky has presented at ISTELive, IDEAcon, IETC, the STEAM and Space Education Virtual Conference, TWTCon, EdChange Global, and “The Suite Talk” (podcast). She earned a B.S. in Chemistry and Environmental Science from Bradley University (2005) and a M.A. in Environmental Studies from University of Illinois - Springfield (2007). Before entering education in 2009, she was an environmental specialist in the Chicago area. In her role as Learning Specialist, Becky provides targeted interventions to students to help them achieve grade-level success. She also coaches and mentors teachers by collaborating through modeling, co-planning, and co-teaching using data-driven instructional practices. In her role as Instructional Technology Coach, Becky focuses on supporting teachers as they incorporate blended learning strategies as a way to leverage educational technology to supercharge the students’ development of 21st Century Skills. Additionally, she works with teachers to find ways that EdTech empowers teachers to find balance in their personal and professional life.
