I am currently the Director of Component Replacements & Engineering at Westinghouse Electric. The department includes groups focused on Steam Generators, Control Drive Mechanisms, Reactor Vessel Heads, Component Handling, Boiling Water Reactors, and Operating Plant support. Prior to this position, I directed the Mechanical Engineering & Plant Layout department spanning both operating plant support and AP1000 engineering. This department of 170 engineers focused on piping, valves, systems, hazards, plant layout, and reactor coolant pumps which contrasted years of large hardware experience gained as a Product Manager. In that role I was responsible for steam generators, pressurizers, thick walled tanks, and passive residual heat removal heat exchangers. An exciting part of my management role was leading proposals, defining technical scope, and negotiating contract terms & price ranging from small engineering contracts to large hardware contracts over $100M. Prior to entering management I served in several engineering roles. I started as an intern at Cegelec Automation working on projects including ABS controllers for Bosch and airbag actuators. At Bombardier I worked on People Movers performing design engineering, retrofits, and troubleshooting as well as testing for noise, vibration, stress, smoke, and flame resistance. I started at Westinghouse engineering steam generators with an original focus on design and fabrication oversight transitioning to leadership roles. My career so far has taught me about a wide range of products from sensors to 600 ton steam generators. I've traveled all over the world as far south as South Africa, north to Finland, and many places in between. I've enjoyed the hospitality of Asian cultures and learning the European roots that influenced US culture. I'm always excited to share my experiences with anyone considering engineering or exploring their career options.
