As a Trustee at Barstow Community College, I am part of a team committed to providing the public with open access and comprehensive program offerings and with ensuring that students receive educational opportunities in Career-Technical Education, Transfer Education and Developmental Education. As an elected steward of the community, I strive to help manage both fiscal and physical resources, promote Economic Development and to provide visionary leadership that positions the college decades into the future. I feel fortunate to have played a pivotal visionary leadership role in recently bringing to campus a 15 million dollar Learning Resource Center, a 22 million dollar Preforming Arts Center, and a 12 million dollar Wellness Center. Likewise, I am proud to have been a key initiator and supporter of a modern Career Technical Education facility whose STEM based programs prepare a needed workforce for the economic development of the community and the region.Recent leadership efforts have focused on conserving energy and water via the creation of a campus solar field and through the replacement of some college turf with water conserving plants and landscaping. On going efforts to create grant partnerships with other community colleges in the region have also been high on my leadership agenda.As an associate with ELS Group, I am part of a team of educational consultants, that provides Community College districts with an array of educational services including, but not limited to,national searches for presidents and senior administrators, strategic planning, educational master planning, and Trustee workshops.As an educator, I have served in the following capacities: Executive Vice President, Vice president of Academic affairs, Dean of Instruction, Division Chair, Athletic Director, College and University Professor.
