I spent 33 exciting years in law enforcement both in Peterborough and Lakefield where I was fortunate to learn and work in many specialty fields. Trained in drug enforcement, intelligence and major crime investigations highlighted my early years. Working as a crisis negotiator and being a Sergeant of our Emergency Response Team were my major responsibilities during Years 10 through 20. Becoming a major incident commander and promoted Staff Sergeant and then to Inspector supervising both the Uniform Division and retiring as Inspector of the Criminal Investigation Division were early goals I had and was fortunate enough to achieve. After retiring from policing, I applied for and was hired as the Returning Officer for Elections Ontario in the Peterborough Kawartha riding. After planning and overseeing two successful elections being responsible for the hiring, training and supervising of over one thousand people, it is time to move on to new challenges. During my career as a police officer and with Elections Ontario, volunteering has always played a major role in my life. Spending over ten years with both the Festival of Trees and Telecare Peterborough, over 20 years with the Citizens Advisory Committee with Corrections Canada and as a Board Member with the Kawartha Food Share all highlight some of my many volunteering efforts. Happily married and the father of two wonderful children who I am very proud of and who are now working in their own professions, I love being a husband, father and grandfather of three special children. Always looking for new challenges and understanding the importance of giving back to my community, I now wonder what new challenges lie ahead!
