I chose to return to Eaton, but I did not return to LVA (Low Voltage Assemblies). I am working in PFC (Power Factor Control), and am enjoying the job that I am part of with this area. I hope to continue in this position for a good while to come.

In this position, I assisted with moving items into and out of the required locations so that they could be stored for later use or sent to the manufacturing areas of the business. I drove several different types of powered industrial vehicles, and handled many different types of materials, from shipping boxes to herbs, as required.

I worked at this plant as one of my temporary jobs in 1994, and enjoyed what I saw and learned. I wanted to return to learn more good things. While I worked there, I did learn about the manufacturing process and had my eyes opened to what it takes to create a finished assembly. It was good to understand that. I worked on the LVA (Low Voltage Assembly) line on first shift. Main position was in midline mechanical. I successfully made the transition to full time as of November 2018.I moved from assembly to material handling in January 2020.

During my time in this position, I assisted with quality tracking and evaluation, performing testing, and maintaining calibrations. I moved into this position after going to college to receive my Associates Degree.Notable accomplishments in this position include creating a data entry program using excel vba that improved data entry accuracy and tracking greatly. I also helped to validate the sterilization processes used on all product. This included performing tests and continuous validation through the year. One other system that i assisted with was helping to introduce and validating a process that saves the company up to $300,000 per year. During some of my time in this position, I was able to work in the distribution warehouse picking orders with a cherry picker for shipping to customers.

After working on the production floor, I moved to the warehouse for less exhausting work. During my time in the warehouse, I drove sit down electrical and propane forklifts. I then transitioned to a stand-up forklift when the older machines were replaced. The greatest accomplishment I had while in this position was to create a layout for the raw materials of the machine that I had run. This new layout and process helped improve tracking and usage by at least 50%.While I was in this position, I attended A-B Tech to obtain an associate's degree in electrical and electronics engineering.

During my time writing on the production floor, I mostly ran a large machine that created sterilization pouches for custom kits in doctor and dental offices. There were also much larger pouches for operating room kits. Because of the size and weight of the raw materials, moving them with a forklift was a requirement. I also was involved with running almost all of the around 20 machines on the floor. I had experience with every machine that was used but 3 that weren't there very long.Because of this experience, I offered to run a third shift to assist with production volume. I was in this position as a team lead for the last 18 months I worked on the production floor.

After a little over another year, I chose to leave to pursue other employment opportunities elsewhere.I remember staying this position less than a month before I was married in 1996.

After I returned from out west, I worked in several positions for fairly short periods of time.I worked first at the Shwitzer turbo plant on 191. I left after about 3-4 months. I had several month or less positions at several places, including the Asheville Mall Sears when they added the second floor to their retail space. I also worked for 2-4 months at the Eaton facility in Arden, and truly enjoyed being there. I learned many things that I still use on a regular basis. I was offered a position with them, but I wasn't prepared to work 2nd shift at that time, so I turned it down. But I worked to get back in there for years. My final position with Manpower was being assigned to Bay Tech Labels, where I was hired.

I tried to be part of this process, but I just wasn't ready for the stress and demands of doing this. After a year, I went home.

During the 18 or so months that I spent in Utah, this was the second longest job I had. I learned more about preparation and sales in this position than I think I can fully appreciate.

My first hired job. I remember running the fries stations on busy days, keeping up with a full lobby and drive- through. It took moving VERY fast!I learned a great deal about preparation and timing at this job.

When I was young, I helped my father and siblings maintain somewhere around 20 cars. We did a complete overhaul on somewhere between 5 and 10 of them (my dad and I disagreed on the actual number). The engines we overhauled were Datsun/Nissan A12, A13, A15, and one A16 (horrible design on the last one). I also pulled the heads off of a Ford 351 Windsor. Just about dropped them! All of these ran after the repair/overhaul until we sold them or were wrecked beyond repair. During this time, and even today, I performed general maintenance on all of these cars. This includes disk and drum brake replacement, changing oil, and flushing coolant systems.Along the way, I was educated in the synchronization and timing of a piston engine. I have enjoyed watching them run ever since. Just not so much turning wrenches on them. ;)
