As an ATF Special Agent, I am responsible for investigating offenses committed against the United States under Titles 18, 21 and 26 of the United States Code. Specifically, I spent approximately nine years of my career working in the Arson and Explosives Group at the Detroit Field Division. This specialized group focused their efforts on the investigation of suspected acts of arson, the use and possession of explosives and improvised explosive devices, bombings and trafficking in diverted and counterfeit tobacco products. I spent the remainder of my career working in the Ann Arbor Field Office, a general group that combined efforts with our state and local partners to combat and investigate violent crime across a multiple county area. During my time with ATF I have investigated offenses that included the illegal possession and use of firearms and explosives, firearms trafficking, arson, bombings, narcotics trafficking, possession/manufacture of child pornography, contraband cigarette trafficking and homicide.

Division Of Law Enforcement Services, Northern Pueblos Agency, Espanola, New Mexico

My duties included the enforcement of tribal and federal law on the Eight Northern Indian Pueblos in the State of New Mexico and the investigation of tribal, state, and federal violations of law that occurred on those reservations. During my time with the Bureau of Indian Affairs I investigated crimes ranging from homicide and child sexual abuse to antiquities theft and just about everything in between. Because of heavy case load, I often worked independently. I was tasked with responding to crime scenes; processing and collecting evidence; interviewing victims, witnesses and suspects and obtaining federal search and arrest warrants. I built and prepared cases for prosecution by the United States Attorney’s Office and when required testified before grand juries and in federal and tribal court proceedings. In 1997, I investigated, what was then the first armed robbery of an Indian owned casino. That case was featured on the television program, America’s Most Wanted.

Detroit Metropolitan Area

I was responsible for enforcing United States immigration laws through the inspection of people entering the United States through the land borders and airports located in the Detroit metropolitan area. In addition, I was cross designated to enforce the United States Customs laws on goods coming into the United States across those land borders.
