My story, "Reducing 'Mixed messages' Concerning Public Safety in the Wake of the University of Idaho Murders" was published in the Winter 2024 edition of the FBI-LEEDA Insighter magazine and also the 2024 First Edition of the Ohio Association of Chiefs of Police.

The SCTF AHIMT is a regional team that is requested and deployed throughout the 9 county area of the task force during large and complex incidents when local resources have been exhausted, or require specific coordination/planning efforts. I am currently serving as PIO in a 1-year probationary period.

Responsible for positioning the York County Office of Emergency Management and York County 911 as one of the preeminent emergency management and telecommunicator agencies in Pennsylvania, by fielding inquiries from the media, increasing the agency's digital footprint on all social media platforms, generating news releases, organizing news conferences and leading special projects. In addition, I fulfill duties as an on-call emergency management officer, responding to incidents. Also handle PIO duties for the York County Hazmat Team and the Child Abduction Response Effort (CARE) Team.

Serving as the main point-of-contact for incoming media calls and requests. Performing crisis management and preemptive planning for the York County Commissioners and all of the departments under their purview. Handling internal communications, including a monthly electronic newsletter to employees. Serving as public relations counsel for President Commissioner. Writing and editing content to create a consistent and positive organizational image and message. Served on special committee to facilitate the county's first-ever strategic plan. Managing website copy and social media posts and pages. Devising and overseeing communication strategies for specific projects and long-term implementation. *Note: I was requested by county commissioners to serve in this capacity until the full-time position could be filled by another individual.

I am responsible for directing, planning and coordinating the branding guidelines, public outreach programs, preparedness marketing materials, news releases, management of the York County Office of Emergency Management’s social media accounts and content, its website, and media requests. In addition, I look for new organizations, agencies and county residents with whom to partner. In terms of social media, I have initiated content creation for the office's YouTube channel and in my first month, saw significant growth in the office's Facebook page: People reach was up 358%, post engagements up 1,304% and page likes up 22%.

Having spent years on both sides of the communications coin -- journalism and public relations -- I find myself at an exclusive nexus where I can speak, act and consult in either realm in expert fashion. As play-by-play commentator for PA Cage Fight, I was part of a broadcast team for two live, multi-camera events in the Scranton, PA area. The main cards were shown live in a two-hour time block on a local FOX affiliate. The team included a color commentator and a host, who got us in and out of commercials. I also called several shows for PA Cage Fight that were recorded and later broadcast on a local cable access channel.

Wrote stories for FIGHT!, one of the most respected magazines on the sport of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA), including hard-hitting research pieces, profiles, and features.

From Dec. 1999 to 2004, I worked as a crime reporter for The York Dispatch, working the night shift (4 p.,m.-midnight), covering anything police and fire-related, including homicides, assaults, fatal crashes and house fires.
