My background started in engineering, but I have specialised after leaving the forces in Data Communication and computing. I undertook a practical course covering the installation of both Fibre and Copper Cat5. Joined a Data Installation company and within 3 weeks I secured a position as a project manager this involved setting up and heading the cabling side, covering all aspects of the project, surveying, proposing & quoting, stock control, co-ordinating resources, testing and documentation.To further my network and software knowledge I was employed as a computer technician administering a Novell & NT network over 2 sites, hardware & software installations, system configuration, running a helpdesk for 1800+ users allocating jobs to the team and started teaching Networking to Advanced GNVQ classes. Then I was employed at Unipalm a software distributor as an IT Manager running a small team responsible for all internal systems voice and data using 26 Servers Window2000, NT4 & RedHat Linux, 130 users over 3 sites covering all aspects of applications and networks. From all this experience I now teach students at the college and at ARU teaching on level 2/3 courses at CRC and up to Masters modules at ARU this I find enjoyable and I’m able to use my enthusiasm to bring the subject alive.I am an optimistic person who thrives with responsibility.Able to work on my own or as part of a team.Due to my military training :-I find it easy to fit into any team working on any project, leading or supporting where necessary. I have a strong work ethic and work hard to achieve my aims.
