For the past 29 years, Hayes has served as a safety and security consultant to school districts and municipalities in Wisconsin and throughout the United States.Published in November 2013, Hayes is the author of “IF IT’S PREDICTABLE, IT’S PREVENTABLE; MORE THAN 2000 WAYS TO IMPROVE THE SAFETY & SECURITY IN YOUR SCHOOL.”As chairperson of the Waukesha County School Violence Prevention Task Force, Hayes was instrumental in the development of the "SCHOOL CRISIS: PLANNING & PREVENTION GUIDELINES" - the first document of its kind that assists schools and municipalities in developing a hands-on, step-by-step crisis plan.In 1998, Hayes and Waukesha County Sheriff Bill Kruziki authored the book, "NOT IN MY SCHOOL! A PROACTIVE GUIDE TO SCHOOL VIOLENCE PREVENTION." During that same year, Hayes traveled throughout Wisconsin with State Attorney General James Doyle regarding school violence prevention.Hayes previously served as president of the Wisconsin School Safety Coordinators Association (WSSCA) and is currently a member of the Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials (WASBO) Board of Directors as well as the WASBO safety committee, transportation committee, and service affiliate committee.Hayes has been a featured speaker at a number of national school violence conferences including:. - Wisconsin Attorney General School Safety Summit - National Sheriffs Association - Kansas DARE Officers Association - Law Enforcement Training Network - National Association of Pupil Transportation - Wisconsin School Counselors Association - Wisconsin Association of School Boards (WASB) - Wisconsin Association of School Business Officials (WASBO)Additionally, Hayes authors monthly violence prevention articles for various school related magazines.Hayes currently is a senior risk manager with M3 Insurance.Most recently, Hayes was named as one of the 'top 100' insurance professionals in the nation by INSURANCE BUSINESS AMERICA.
