• Worked on the team responsible for the segmentation of lists at speed and scale.• Implemented key processes to secure the lifecycle of independently evaluated filters and limit extraneous evaluation work performed, including - ensuring the deduplication and reuse of filters, softly deactivating filters determined to be unused by the larger lists system, purging filters not reactivated after a period of time, and purging unneeded persisted membership data. Filters in the system were reduced by about 30% and persisted memberships were cut down by about 50%.• Implemented a new evaluation lane for a specific filter targeted for independent evaluation.• Consistently worked towards stronger code through better test coverage and more reusable code patterns.

• Led efforts for the new International Supply Chain engineering team to develop best practices and engineering standards.• Wrote the backend for the first prototype Transportation Management System (TMS) enabling Wayfair's international supply chain efforts.• Drew upon previous experiences tackling data integrity faults to integrate a functionally complete data auditing framework into the TMS prototype. Proved the usefulness of the data auditing framework through debugging incidents wherein either log coverage or log retention was insufficient.• Initiated efforts to boost team morale during disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, including holding regular 1-1s with peers, mentoring junior engineers, and coordinating online events (Games! Lunch!).• Led Wayfair's first successful automated API integration with a third-party border customs broker. Adapted to changing business requirements, coordinated with engineers from the third-party customs broker, developed a coherent data design, interfaced with key stakeholders, and ensured quality code and monitoring.• Advocated for the necessary evolution of the architecture of the TMS prototype, aiming to improve data consistency and support the potential future scope of operations. Drew upon experiences working on the tech used throughout Wayfair's supply chain to develop a plan for a unified object model that would consistently support the full supplier-to-customer supply chain across multiple modes of transport. Developed a prototype for the simplified, streamlined architecture, which was adopted into the planned customs broker API integration implementation, and ultimately saw key elements of the architecture incorporated into the design for the next generation implementation of the TMS.

• Worked on a tiger team aimed at developing better Kafka integration strategies, and working with the Supply Chain Engineering department to improve awareness and encourage adoption of those strategies.• In one particular instance, I uncovered a pesky bug in Wayfair's core legacy code that caused multiple webservices to actively, intermittently, and undetectably fail. Escalated, and ultimately fixed, the issue in coordination with Wayfair Operations and the other affected departments.• Replaced one of the most centrally important of those original data pipeline systems, in the process reducing the load on a key warehousing database by 25%, and launched without regression.

• Designed and implemented the pattern for asynchronous data messaging, using Kafka and Apache Storm (Java), between our internal warehousing and transportation systems. Maintained the health of those systems through several years of exponential business growth. Coordinated with other departments to establish best practices.• Developed tooling enabling the rapid data setup of new facilities and placement of fake orders for system testing purposes. Cut the technical spin-up time of a warehouse down from weeks to minutes.• Worked on a tiger team aimed at providing visibility and monitoring for warehousing systems and data during a period of high technical instability. The team also tackled the most significant tech issues affecting Wayfair's fulfillment operations and helped triage the impact and priority of the smaller issues.• Built tech components key to the initial rollout of Wayfair's crossdocking network. Supported the launch of Wayfair's first crossdock with on-the-ground triaging. Worked with product managers to understand the business requirements, and advocated for changes aimed at improving unscalable components in the architecture.• Developed the Warehousing Tech department's on-call strategy for around-the-clock incident support. Led trainings and developed documentation for the team, drawing from personal extensive triaging experience, and appropriately coordinated expansion of the rotation as the department expanded internationally. Worked with newer rotation members to develop incident reports to aid with future recurrences.
