Oversaw company safety program for multiple branch locations: 3 in Indiana; 2 in Illinois. Perform branch and job site safety inspections and audits (experienced in heavy industrial, commercial construction, steel erection, communications towers, industrial, and warehouses). Create job specific hazard analysis forms. Review crane critical lift plans. Maintain, all compliance issues including: OSHA, D.O.T., NFPA, waste disposal, HAZCOM (MSDS), MSHA, etc. Perform safety training as required (fall protection, forklift, aerial lift, PPE, rigging, etc.). Accident investigation and reporting including: property and bodily as well as vehicular. Company liaison with outside legal counsel. Maintain D.O.T. driver files and other associated paperwork. Maintain and oversee drug testing program. Chair safety committee meetings, give toolbox talks. Interact with customers as required, complete prequalification questionnaires when needed. Train customer workers as necessary. Interact with insurance broker. Manage workman’s compensation claims. Senior Safety Lead at BP Whiting Refinery during the Modernization Project; Turn-A-Rounds, and Business Unit crane projects. Developed Site Specific Safety Manual. Manage an on-site staff of 5 field safety reps. Attend site safety meetings; incident investigations; job specific training; job auditing; and monitor performance of craft work force as needed. Interact with customers as needed on the project. Other duties as assigned by General Manager. Safety oversight of 300 employees, union and non-union. Major accomplishments: no OSHA violations; improved employee safety morale; successfully lowered recordable injury rate to industry lowest; improved and updated safety manual; successfully reduced accident rate; successfully maintained FMCSA/D.O.T top carrier safety rating.
