Ted Laverty Director of World Wide Licensing (Broadcast)Ted Laverty joined DTS in August of 2001 as Director of Business Development and has since become Director of World Wide Licensing – Broadcast, where he is responsible for driving the IPTV & broadcast market segments for DTS. In his career at DTS Laverty has had responsibility for product management, technology strategy, gaming, as well as involvement in many standards activities. Previously involved with DVD and Blu-ray standards Laverty is now the company lead for DVB & OIPF standards as well a representative for DLNA.Prior to joining DTS, Laverty worked as a Sales Engineer at audio codec developer, Audio Processing Technology Ltd - Belfast, before his promotion to General Manager in Los Angeles, USA. He was responsible for algorithm licensing, hardware sales and leading new strategic business developments primarily in the telco segment.Laverty holds an Honours degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Queen’s University Belfast, where he also completed the European Technology Entrepreneur Program in conjunction with The University of Ulster. The year long course focused on commercializing audio technologies. Laverty is also a chartered Engineer and member of the IET.Laverty enjoyed eight years within the music industry in various roles as musician, composer, performer, engineer and producer for the noisy indie band 'Chimera'.
