Ted Rockwell is a Assistant Dean of Marketing and Communications at Continuing Education at CU Boulder. In his approach to our particular marketing challenges, Ted captured the essence of messages we needed to communicate. He then helped convey the strategic imperative of the massaging to both my internal team and his Vermilion colleagues and persuasively navigated the proposed branding adjustments through the scrutiny only a multi-national corporation can offer. It took Ted’s unique blend of analytical and leadership skills to achieve that goal. The result was an enduring local marketing brand. Ted and I later united when he assumed a seat on the Boulder Chamber Board of Directors. It is a testament to Ted’s leadership leadership capabilities and his ability to build effective coalitions amongst diverse interests that he was elected to become Board Chair for the Boulder Chamber amidst a prospective candidate list of Boulder’s top business talent. And how fortunate was I that Ted assumed the Board Chair role amidst a period of excessively difficult period for our business community, including a global pandemic with unprecedented economic impacts. At all times, Ted offered a clear head in consideration of the risks, the opportunities and the personalities at play as we worked to forge a path toward the most effective use of Boulder Chamber resources and the most positive outcome for our many stakeholders. Finally, I can’t emphasize enough Ted’s engaging personality. It seems everyone seeks his counsel, which I attribute to the thoughtful approach he takes to resolving everything from individual personal tribulations to the thorniest group conflict situations. He brings a uniquely calming presence to every circumstance which is most conducive to problem solving and forward progress. As I like to say, everyone could use more “Ted” – in their personal and professional lives."
