Since January 2017 I work as independent Sustainable Strategies Consultant (www.tedvanderputconsultancy.com) supporting organizations to identify and implement strategies and actions that balance the interests of People, Planet and Profit. With this he builds on his 25 years executive business experience in multinational corporations followed by 7 years as Director and Executive Board member of the Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH), a Public Private Partnership agent for sustainable development that convenes front running businesses and civil society organizations in result oriented coalitions for change. Ted provided in IDH leadership to a wide variety of (mainstream) sector transformation initiatives for sustainable sourcing including:• Coffee , where IDH is founding partner of the Global Coffee Platform (GCP), the largest pre-competitive & multi-stakeholder sustainability initiative whose members reach over 50% of the global coffee production. Ted is the 1st Chairman of the Board of GCP until October 2017;• Tropical timber , where IDH has been co-funding over 80% of all recently certified tropical forests• Electronics, where IDH has been leading between 2011 and 2016 a “ beyond auditing approach on working conditions ” for Apple, Philips, Nokia/ Microsoft, Dell and HP• Aquaculture, the fastest growing sector to bring animal nutrients to the 9 billion population in 2050, where he chaired during 2014/2015 the Supervisory Board of the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) the leading standard for responsible aquaculture.Ted’s background includes over twenty years senior management experience at Philips Electronics, 4 years as CEO of the Philips Lighting Solutions activities in Europe and 2 years as Board Member of the VDL Group. The red line in his professional career has been a passion for longer term value creation. Ted holds a highest praise MBA graduate in Industrial Marketing and Strategic Planning from the University of Eindhoven,Netherlands.
