Establish and grow relationships with local, state, and federal policymakers to protect and promote the legislative and regulatory interests of the National Aviary, and foster effective partnership opportunities.

The National Aviary is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that depends on donations from individuals, corporations, and foundations to operate. Responsibilities include individual giving, annual appeal, donor societies, event fundraising, special projects, membership, and corporate partnerships.

Direct the day to day operations of a 34,000+ person membership program and supervision of member services staff and volunteers.Responsibilities include budget and financial management of membership budget that falls under the City of Virginia Beach; program development including concept, business, marketing, staffing and evaluation planning; portfolio management of over 10,000 households; prospecting and securing donations for philanthropic memberships, corporate partnerships, and animal adoption program.Results from 08/2011 to 07/2014: Increased sales - membership revenue increased 90% to nearly $1 million; Increased renewals - renewal rate jumped 10%; Increased visitation rates - member visitation went up 13%; Better customer mobilization - past six member events sold out; Increased customer service rating - overall member experience rated at 91% as excellent or very good; Increased donations - higher response rates to direct mailing, charitable gift asks and additional donation requests.

Managed all aspects of the individual, family and corporate membership program.Responsibilities included membership marketing, budgeting, implementation of direct mail campaigns, membership cultivation and outreach events, mailing new member packages, providing member relations, sales training, online renewal efforts, and lapse member renewal efforts. Also developed a corporate membership program to enhance its community outreach.Results included revitalization of the membership program which led to a 100% increase of member and donor households and $30,000 increase of membership revenue in just 18 months. Achieved 14% increase in donor base. Modernized procedures for online donations and membership enrollment.

Responsibilities included review of all incoming correspondence and managing the process for all outgoing correspondence; Hired, supervised, and evaluated over 20 college interns; Represented the Lt. Governor and spoke at over 50 community events; Assisted the Lt. Governor on the floor during state Senate sessions; Managed a database of constituent inquiries of 67 counties, 303 General Assembly members and 32 state agencies; Prepared daily reports on various local, state and national issues for the Lt. Governor to review; Attended Senate hearings, committee hearings and other state office meetings and events on behalf of the Lt. Governor; Results: Appointed to the Governor’s Rare Collections Renovation Committee that lobbied Congress, researched and subsequently secured multiple grants totaling nearly one million dollars. Grants included a $460,000 Institute of Museum and Library Services Grant and a $250,000 Save America Treasures Matching Grant; Administered website content and transitioned the website to become more e-government based;
