Community Advocate Theodore “Ted” Booker possesses a gift for helping people discover their talents within and beyond the workplace and has a deep understanding of the nonprofit sector in the Greater Los Angeles Area. His scope of interest has now evolved into business development and grants management in an effort to garner needed program support for nonprofit organizations.Booker’s passion for inspiring individuals to feel invested in achieving their career goals has helped hundreds of qualified job candidates over the years and he has personally placed more than 400 workers from the local community into viable careers. He specializes in helping people successfully navigate job transitions as well as identifying and placing at-risk candidates into permanent roles. Among his various career successes, Booker is most proud of participating on the team that assembled a construction workforce reflecting the diverse demographics of a major metropolitan transportation authority project where he promoted the utilization of local residents for all jobs (both trade and non-trade) on the project; and, encouraged the employment of underrepresented and at-risk residents including ex-offenders, disenfranchised youth, and the homeless. He also coordinated with local-area community-based organizations to recruit local residents for construction trade opportunities (pre-apprenticeship programs, other public works projects, etc.).Booker's experience in grassroots organization, program management and evaluation, case management, research and proposal writing has led to offering tailored services ranging from job preparation workshops; career coaching; specialized research; event management for symposiums, panel discussions, and knowledge transfer conferences; and strategic planning consulting for small business development.Additionally, Booker’s interest in entrepreneurship and career building inspired him to seek out higher education studies in sociology where he discovered a niche for connecting millennials and seniors with career training and opportunities in an ever-changing marketplace.
