Major Crimes Detective
CurrentI've been a detective since 2006 and was selected the Snohomish County Sheriff's Office Detective of the Year for 2008. I transferred to the Major Crimes Unit in 2010. I investigate major crimes against people, including homicide, robbery, kidnapping, assaults, domestic violence, etc. I am an adjunct Domestic Violence Instructor with the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center. I was a member of the Snohomish County Multiple Agency Response Team (SMART) for over 7 years. This team of experienced detectives from agencies throughout the county investigate officer-involved shootings and serious use of force incidents. The team is a model for Washington State for such investigations. Also, I was a member of the Snohomish County Inter-Agency Child Abduction Response Team (ICart). This team responds to child abduction - Missing children emergency situations.I have specialized training with cell phone data analysis and mapping cell phone records and have testified as an expert witness. In 2015 I learned more specialized investigative techniques at the National Domestic Communications Assistance Center (NDCAC), taught by the F.B.I. Investigative techniques for modern telecommunications has become a major focus in high-level, high-priority investigations. In 2018 I became a Certified Firearms Specialist with the International Firearms Specialists Academy. My passion for photography has developed my skills to the point where I'm the "go to" person in my unit. Using photographs to properly and clearly portray to the triers of fact the crime scenes, evidence and participants is critical to the judicial process. I take pride in my report writing skills and enjoy documenting and explaining difficult investigations in an easily understood manner. In February, 2015 I was one of four people who was awarded the Life Saving Medal for working cooperatively to save the life of a man who suffered an apparent heart attack in May, 2014 on the Snohomish County campus.
