Truck driving provided the needed break and helped me appreciate my office job once again. Took some time to help my folks sell their home and then found a better place to put my software experience to good use.

Enjoyed a break from the office while diving a refrigerated tractor trailer. Orientation, training and solo driver. 31 states. 300+ hours of driving. 16,000+ miles. 100% on time delivery. Incredible respect for the men and women who do this 7 days a week - night and day. Wonderful experience, but it just isn't for me.

Retraining as a commercial truck driver. Spending more time with my parents and church family.

Senior Software Engineer in New Project Realization (aka Hub / SCIU). Project lead, software design, development, and testing of enhancements to the WMS and WES (named WM6 / SynQ). Developed primarily in Java EE. Front-end and back-end development in Java EE, Spring Boot, JPA Maven, and Eclipse. Loving the switch to Java and the suite of new processes (Agile) and tools (Maven, SVN, git, Polarion, CI/CD). Database hosted on Oracle, SQL Server, and PostgreSQL. Strong SQL query skills. Developed primarily in Oracle PL/SQL on Oracle 10g to 12c platforms. User interface development in Oracle Developer (Forms and Reports) 9i. Projects included ASRS (pallet cranes and conveyors), palletizers/depalletizers, AGVs, and voice (Vocollect). Worked with third party vendors to design and implement custom APIs (Oracle Advanced Queues and TCP/IP). Worked with customers to design and implement custom host interfaces (file-based, table-based). Develop emulation for cranes and conveyors to facility software testing. Mentored junior developers. Information Assurance Manager (IAM) and IT Program Manager for Navy Munitions Command (NMC) Headquarters (Yorktown, VA). Draft policy recommendations. As the Command IAM completed the rollout of SIPR tokens across the NMC. As command Contract Technical Representative (CTR) serve as the interface between NMC and the Navy Marine Corp Intranet (NMCI) contractor. Coordinated the successful deployment of Windows 7 at headquarters. IT support includes management of SharePoint utilization for internal web-based collaboration. Create custom reports using Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer 10g/11g. Supported integration of the Fleet Ordnance Support Model (FOS-M) into the Optimized Performance Objective Model (OPOM). Data analysis using Microsoft Excel. Software requirements review. Oversaw installation of new VTC system. Prepared user/admin training and SOPs for VTC system. Provide graphic design and presentation support as well as general IT support at the headquarters building.

Linear regression modeling using Microsoft Excel. Prepared and provided training on workload reporting to detachment personnel. Reviewed, analyzed and reported on historic and modeled data. Created custom reports using Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer 10g. Lead the effort to automate workload reporting through system integration between the Ordnance Information System (OIS) and FOS-M. Prepared input to annual financial model.

Senior Software Developer. Project management, software design and development for NAVSUP (Yorktown, VA). Lead conversion of FOS-M from legacy platforms to an Oracle Developer and PL/SQL on Oracle 8i platform and integrated this system into the Ordnance Information System (OIS). Migrated applications to Oracle 9i platform. Project planning utilizing Microsoft Project. Extended system to utilize linear regression modeling for financial forecasting. Requirements analysis and software cost estimation.

Worked on site for three clients: The J. M. Smucker Company (Orrville, Ohio), OfficeMax Corporation (Cleveland, Ohio), and Ahold Information Services (Greenville, South Carolina). Oversaw and participated in the design and development of several business systems. Design work utilized Oracle Designer, ERwin, and Visio. Development completed using Java, Visual Basic, Oracle Developer, Pro*C and PL/SQL against Oracle 7 and 8i databases. Optimized queries. Application deployed using JInitiator. Maintain system interfaces to SAP 4.0 in Pro*C. Created and modified shell scripts on Sun Solaris. Installation packages developed using InstallShield 5.2. Worked closely with business users and other technical teams to provide custom user interfaces and system interfaces. Provided testing and production support as needed.

Participated in all aspects of system life cycle for Air Force knowledge management web site. Design, develop, test and document database, application, and presentation layers. MS SQL Server installation, import/exports, backup/restores. Modify table structures as necessary. Application layer written in Visual Basic (COM Controls) and ASP. ADO used to access SQL Server database. Update and develop new web pages using IIS, Visual InterDev, ASP, VBScript, and JavaScript. Research and Development Engineer (November 1994 to December 1996)Designed and developed sample applications for IntraBuilder 1.0 and IntraBuilder 1.01, Borlands JavaScript web application development tool. As worlds first IntraBuilder developer, created samples and pre-built business applications that ship with the products. Applications written in client-side and server-side JavaScript. Used SQL to manipulate dBASE, InterBase and Oracle data. Developed Windows API header files for IntraBuilder.Supported development of dBASE for Windows 5.0, Visual dBASE 5.5. Developed Windows API header files for dBASE. Created library that allowed C style structures to be used in dBASE. R&D liaison, providing superior service to internal customers, authors, beta sites and other key users. Designed check-in verification, and multi-user test systems. Prepared and delivered presentations to user groups, trade shows and conferences. Assist in developing sample applications. Debug problems submitted by beta testers and other users. Worked independently to design and develop innovative document tracking system (dBASE III Plus and dBASE IV). Greatly reduced amount of time it took to get Engineering revisions to the shop and vendors while increasing accuracy of documentation. Developed other internal utilities to support Engineering staff (dBASE IV).

Architect and lead developer of systems used to manage personnel, scheduling, payroll, land and air service reservations, and fleet data (dBASE III Plus). First system at the university to submit account receivable data to accounting in electronic format. Wrote system of printer drivers to support generation of forms from dBASE III Plus. Drove 35' transit coaches and trained others to do likewise. Recognized as a person of integrity and often trusted with special responsibilities, including driving in three presidential motorcades.
