At Rubric, my role started as one mostly of handling tickets relating to configuration requirements and issues for bespoke translation software, and I was the most immediate point of contact for technical difficulties - though many were far beyond my knowledge and authority to help.Some tasks unironically involved parsing [X]HTML with Regular Expressions.My role grew as I became more familiar with each the systems and my colleagues: soon, I was debugging and fixing, or finding workarounds for, issues in the translation software.By the end of my tenure, I had written a few tools to perform important one-off tasks (like for the conversion from one TMX format to another) and implemented a few features used for translation projects.I also helped the next Placement Student learn the ropes during our brief overlap.
