My last several years with the company, I coordinated with VP and Director-level stakeholders to manage a $4m+ annual budget aimed at conducting high-impact international research across several product areas, helping ensure products *truly* work for everyone. Prior to this, I led ethnographic and interview research for multiple teams building complex emerging markets internet access products, including several 0-to-1 initiatives.I led numerous company-wide projects aimed at expanding the scope of Google research to be more inclusive of global populations, especially among "hard-to-reach" (low income, low connectivity) users in the Global South.

I worked closely with business executives and product managers to introduce design thinking for exploring new business opportunities, UX research, product design, and agile software processes to enterprise organizations with limited technical expertise. Internally at the company, I initiated and led the discussion & development of a company-wide policy on ethical design. I regularly represented the company through thought leadership activities, including publishing external-facing business publications to the company's website and serving as an expert contact with Forrester research consultants on tech trends, tools, and methods.

I spent two years in a PhD program at UW before deciding to focus my energies outside of academia. While there, I published conference papers on a number of projects involving mobile phone use to collect health data in developing countries, a mobile application for collecting health symptom and environmental trigger data to better enable symptom management for chronic behavioral conditions, and social media use to monitor and respond to disasters by crisis responders.

Throughout graduate school, I consulted with external clients on variety of projects including setting up mobile data collection using ODK to enable maternal health data collection in Mozambique (with Health Alliance International); publishing a number of research briefs on tech and Internet trends and policy with Oxford Analytica; and designing & evaluating a mobile health app for teens with behavioral issues with Seattle-based EBPI.

I led the publication of two papers sharing research conducted in the course of a summer internship in Bangalore in collaboration with the TEM (Technology for Emerging Markets) group. I designed & conducted qualitative research on the use of assistive tech by the visually impaired.

I helped create a research program to assess the efficacy of Open Educational Resources with Open.Michigan - a free and open source precursor to MOOCs like edX, Udacity, and Coursera. I identified metrics and collected and analyzed survey & web analytics data to establish impact of the initiative, and compiled reports on industry-wide evaluation practices, PEST/SWOT analyses, and key findings.
