Computer Operations Supervisor
Responsible for the 24-hour availability of the IBM mainframe computer, which managed day to day operations for manufacturing, production, and administrative services for the Hickory Chair and Thomasville divisions for Furniture Brands International.Requirements included the overnight creation of the daily production tickets and reports for the manufacturing lines. Administrative requirements included management of reports for accounting, invoicing, purchasing and payroll.Managed the Computer Operations group consisting of up to 7 employees, which is responsible for maintaining the day to day technology, business, and manufacturing operations for the company.Consulted on the custom software solutions written by software developers, specifically setting requirements, managing timelines, and determining priorities. Performed hardware equipment maintenance and replacement on the IBM mainframe and associated equipment while avoiding downtime.Responsible for integration testing of hardware and software upgrades to the mainframe system.Optimized the automatic job scheduler to improve efficiency of the manufacturing and production processes.Worked on multiple cost-saving measures to provide the same level of support for a fraction of the cost to the company. Specifically, the ability to save on paper costs by taking advantage of information technology resources.
