I work as a Python Coach/Instructor for K-12 students via Outschool. I present lecture slides to students and help them through various Python projects to spark their interest in programming. It’s a very enriching position that helps me grow as a person and as a developer.

I was hired as a consultant under a subcontract to design an audio/video transcription program that could be integrated into a preexisting subtitle generating program designed by another developer. My program utilized ffmpeg to extract audio from .mp4, .mp3, .wav and other audio/video files and generated an SRT file. The SRT file is the final output of my program as from that point my coworkers program would parse it and convert it into subtitles placed over the original file. My program handled every fail safe measure necessary to integrate seamlessly such as a transcription permission case in which only files containing audio and or video are processed. The non audio/video files are moved to a return directory without any modifications or attempted SRT generation to ensure the users files won't become corrupted. This was done by integrating ffmpeg into my program and parsing through the meta data attached to each uploaded file. I learned several useful skills and information on processing meta data and proper python programming structure which I went on to apply in my studies at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
