As inaugural CEO of Digital Jersey I was responsible for driving the organisation forward in its role to develop and promote Jersey as a location of choice for digital business, with the objective of diversifying the local economy and generating jobs.I worked alongside government and industry in order to support the environment for digital learning, business and investment in Jersey across all of the digital domain, from wireless to content.I also established collaboration with other organisations and new start-up businesses, as well as the island’s IT education and skills development. I also promoted a particular focus on pushing forward improvements in terms of skills development for digital natives, legislative and regulatory change, which in turn support the development of digital sector.Digital Jersey also helps existing Jersey-based digital companies and start-ups to flourish whilst also seeking to attract new technology businesses to the Island.

Appointed to the Tech City Investment Organisation, I was tasked with enhancing the growth potential of the digital/creative cluster of companies in east London, typically through:- Advice to government- Strategy setting- Generating pipeline of inward investment from overseas- Relationship management of large corporates- Engagement with universities and skills organisation- Mentoring start-upsThe added value of this support help to accelerate the growth of the cluster from 300 companies to over 1000 in 2 years and focused the attention of early-stage investment communities from the West Coast to the East End on this high-growth area.

Tasked with increasing the R&D spend of overseas companies in the UK, my demand side was targeted major corporates and the supply side was the UK science base.
