I help start-ups to grow & corporations and investors setting up ecosystems and to find startups & scaleups growth opportunities. Currently I focus especially in Fintech related ecosystem activities. Helsinki Business Hub helps investors to invest in Helsinki and accelerates overall business growth in the area.

Supporting growth companies raise funding, short-term assignments for MFA Finland, Finnpartnership and IFIs. Helping NGOs get funded from new sources and coaching on company collaboration (series of assignments hosted by FINGO - Finnish Development NGOs).

Regularly providing various technical short term inputs in project planning, proposals and evaluation missions for various international finance institutions and government organisations including quality reporting. Establishing and maintaining partnerships, stakeholder engagement, communication & PR, support for projects and entrepreneurs in various locations worldwide.

Team Leader. Overall office administration and execution of 5.8M€ bilateral innovation development collaboration program between Finland and Tanzania. Project portfolio management incl. 30 activities and their sub-projects (e.g. under Innovation Fund activity 46 individual projects). Ensured preparation of annual work plans and budgets, prepared TORs for short-term experts, liaised with the Ministry of Works, Transport and Communication Tanzania and Commission of Science and Technology (COSTECH), and the MFA and the Embassy of Finland in the matters relevant to the programme execution. Overall responsibility for preparing reports with recommendations for results framework with indicators, baselines and targets, monitoring and evaluation matrix, system monitoring, risk matrix and mitigation strategies, job descriptions and evaluation plans etc. Communication including social media channels, marketing and PR events, establishing and cultivating partnerships, organisational development, human resources management, inspiring young people to create positive change. As part of other activities advisor role on drafting National ICT Policy for Tanzania.

Responsible of planning and implementation of open innovation/virtual incubation processes and social entrepreneurship activities with selected partners; incl. Innovation Fund, incubation and technology transfer for Tanzanian universities, living labs and other organizations. Supported local partners in benchmarking and replicating proven innovation models to Tanzania (Demola, Startup Sauna, SLUSH, Teamacademy) and creating their own: Buni, Pamoja Living Labs initiative, RLabs Iringa, Innovation Space Zanzibar etc. Facilitated and supported procurement of services and organizing different training courses, study tours, workshops etc. Marketing strategy development, media contact person, PR events and social media management. Acted as CTA when she was not available.

The 22M€ bilateral program between Finland and Mozambique was hosted and largely implemented by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MCT) Mozambique. My responsibility was to advice and coach Mozambican beneficiaries from various organizations with learning-by-doing-approach. This included setting up policies, functions, establishing partnerships, networks and results through various multi-actor from-the-scratch projects, including e.g.: access to finance services and fundraising capacity building, nation-wide business competitions, supported and facilitated establishment of incubators, living labs and innovation spaces, hackathons etc. Responsible for Component 1: ICT; and Component 7: Science, Technology and Innovation Services for SMEs of STIFIMO updated Programme Document. 10 000 (45% women) people trained for ICT skills, hundreds of people trained for entrepreneurship, research & education network and multimedia centers established.

AppCampus was a global 18M€ mobile application acceleration program and accelerator by Nokia and Microsoft hosted by Aalto Center for Entrepreneurship. My responsibilities were to create a global marketing strategy, develop partnerships, relationship building and plan an affiliate program and ensure fast and successful ramp-up of the whole programme. Communication, PR and running various promotion events played crucial role in my assignment.

Establishing and launching of Aalto Center for Entrepreneurship (ACE) 2010 – 2012. ACE was a new type of university based business incubator and accelerator including pre-incubation services for student and researcher based early stage companies and new business formation. Responsible for ACE’s lead generation, partnerships with international technology transfer offices and universities, incubators and governmental bodies, leading contacts with industry, helping start-ups to grow internationally and provide access to finance.

Acting as Fund Manager across eight major innovation universities in Finland. Key role in transforming Otaniemi International Innovation Center into Aalto University Centre for Entrepreneurship (ACE) 2008 -2010. Funding and enhancing state-of-the-art incubator Start-Up Sauna and helping building up the growth oriented ecosystem. Creating and developing partnerships with investors, industry and universities' venture units (e.g. University of Tokyo, TODAI TLO), marketing and licensing Helsinki University of Technology IP portfolio, coaching inventors and venture teams, spinned out 40+ new research based companies which were supported by the fund I run (TULI-programme). During the post as a Fund Manager more than 3000 cases were screened and 600 were funded.

Marketing and selling design services and licensing Creadesign’s own innovations. IP management of Creadesign (models, copyrights, patents, trademarks). Project manager in network based service businesses. Responsible for customer acquisition. Market and user research as part of the design team work. Involved in various roles in 300+ projects with 50+ client companies globally from various industry sectors: ICT, mobile devices, consumer products, industrial equipment, public transportation, furniture, building and public spaces.

User and market research, consulting best R&D team working practices, teaching on a postgraduate course (qualitative research methods). Co-author of international refereed publications.

Created the research plan, gathered and analysed the data and wrote the publication concerning how Deep Leadership tool could be adopted to Finnish civil organizations. (Deep Leadership is the leadership model and tool used in Finnish military). This work was carried out in supervision by Vesa Nissinen.
