Applying Lean and Agile thinking in a practical way to the challenges of digitization. Consulting, coaching, driving change.

As senior Lean consultant I help our customers to become more successful and innovative by adopting a Lean and Agile working culture and methods. Depending on the situation my role can be a consultant, coach, trainer, project manager or a combination of these. My areas of focus are: - Strategic digitalization initiatives - Agile portfolio management - Large scale Agile software development - Systematic innovation and service designClient engagements: - Transformation lead with major IT service provider (portfolio management, agile program managment with SAFe) - Engagement lead in creating an Agile governance models across portfolios in financial sector- Transformation lead in bootstrapping Agile portfolio management for wealth management business area- Program director for large Agile program in financial sector (using SAFe) - Engagement lead creating a Agile portfolio management model in the financial sector and supporting change management - Engagement lead in value stream analyses for security oriented IT service company - Auditing key product development program in the financial sector - Agile (SAFe) transformation roadmap and portfoliomanagment model for public sector organization

As the manager of the application services unit I was responsible for all application services provided by Aalto IT for 5000 employees and 23 000 students. My role included operational, financial and development responsibility of the unit and I was also a member of the IT executive group for Aalto IT. As a part of my job I executed a transition to Lean/Agile way of working and supported other units in their Lean/Agile transformations.

I was the team leader for the IT communications services team for Aalto University which consisted of 10 IT experts. Our team was responsible for web publishing, collaboration and email services. Our focus was on the unification of the services of Helsinki University of Technology, Helsinki School of Economics and Helsinki School of Arts and create the IT communication services needed to start the Aalto University. I also acted as project manager for several related migration projects. We were under considerable time pressure to finish our work in time for the start of the new university. Creating effective and efficient working methods and culture played a large role in my job. We completed the projects on time and managed to create a successful way of working based on Lean and Agile ideas.

I was responsible for creating service concepts and development work (in the role of project manager) for eLearning related services. Examples of successful services were the “Noppa” student portal and our Optima LMS solution. My role included a lot of process development and architecture design. I also wrote my master’s thesis on the subject “How the services of Computing Center meet the needs of the students and teachers”.

My work consisted of Unix (and Linux) administration, automation, database and web service administration and development. I also did some application development work including designing and implementing the university’s classroom reservation system.

My work was mainly user support and simple Unix and Windows administration tasks.
