I am a former software developer turned DevOps Engineer and proud Power(Puff)Shell *girl. Just kidding 😂 I identify as a cloud practitioner (Az), monitoring enthusiast (Grafana, Dynatrace, Splunk), Networks engineer (CloudFlare, UltraDNS) and an API fanboy! If there's an API for it, I'll write a script to avoid the portal to it 😉.Don't get me wrong, I think Python and Bash are cute little tools with massive communities behind them, I just believe that PS-Objects are better to work with because DOT NOTATION!!!Sorry I didn't mean to scream, but I consider them the new legacy and let's be honest, we all hate JSON.Unpopular opinion: Octopus Deploy has a cleaner pipeline configuration interface than any other platform, even better than Jenkins, Azure Pipelines, Gitlab, GitHub, etc. (Prove me wrong 🫵)Speaking of deployment platforms, why are you moving from on-prem? It's not rhetorical - if you've read this far please let me know. Even if your answer is scale, I believe cloud should complement on-prem and support it rather than replace it. but what do I know? 🤷🏽‍♂️One more thing: I think it's worth mentioning that I'm a huge advocate for using the right tools for the job; so you won't hear me yapping about cintainerizing every application just because I know kubernetes (yes I know k8s 😉 no paparazzi please 😎), or putting every API in a Swagger doc, or deploying every update through a pipeline.However, if there's anything I'm unapologetic about enforcing, is version control. It may feel a little micro-managey (is that a word?), but after you've been around long enough you begin to appreciate audit trails and auditability of merges....
