'The Community Sector Council helps build organizational capacity within the nonprofit and voluntary sector. We also act as a non-partisan voice for non-profits, to help tell Nova Scotians about the contributions that non-profits make to our province.'Developed relationships with 100's of community organizations across the Halifax region. Represented the CSC-NS at various community events, conferences, political meetings, and project launches. Coordinated over a dozen local training and networking sessions for non-profits. sessions. Developed regional marketing to promote these events, and partnerships around promotion, including sourcing information for, designing and distributing a monthly regional newsletter, creating all social media collateral for workshop promotion, and managing all registration, catering, logistics, etc. Designed provincial marketing materials, both digital and print. Participated in government presentations on the work of the CSC-NS. Co-coordinated a three day 'Many Hands, Many Voices' conference at Membertou in Cape Breton October of 2017. that brought hundreds of nonprofits from around the province together to share their stories of challenges and success, and create action plans for strengthening community organizations province-wide . Co-coordinated strategic planning sessions for provincial councils. Participated in and led discussions with CSC-NS Conveners and staff on big-picture planning and visioning for the group. Led an initiative to include diverse voices that included developing strong relationships with first nations partners, most notably, The Mi'kmaw Native Friendship Society and Centre.

Our purpose is to provide opportunities and support for women and girls to build stronger connections with each other in our community, in order to reduce isolation and empower them to be healthy, confident and live their best lives.

That's the purpose of Women Reshaping the World.'Developed and implemented Marketing, Communication and Social Media plans that grew our community from 200 to 7000 in 18 months. Collected, edited and published over 50 stories of women who are reshaping the world in a weekly newsletter. Coordinated and managed two conferences in Halifax that brought hundreds of women together to share their stories, and create action plans to bring more meaning to their careers and lives. Wrote job descriptions, recruited and interviewed potential interns, then supervised 2-5 individuals at any given time. Supported multiple international partners in their needs to promote and grow communities and conferences in their cities. Wrote grants that were successful in obtaining funding for numerous positions. Participated in and led discussions with partners on visioning for the business.

Now imagine that place in the heart of Musquodoboit Harbour...that's The Old School!'Co-developed a five year strategic plan for the organization that would make it financially sustainable. Attended and participated in multiple provincial conferences around the theme of volunteerism and economic development. Organized and coordinated ‘Wednesday Friendsday’ a weekly mom & baby group. Wrote a successful proposal that resulted in multi-year funding to cover operational costs, local youth jobs and create a local youth centre, including a United Way grant and Telus grant. Coordinated and hosted annual general meetings. Managed and directed all internal administration, communications, and staff and volunteers. Provided outreach and public education about the organization’s mission and mentored other volunteers to do so as well. Collaborated with members to develop programs.
