As Director, I oversaw development review and approvals as well as government relations for all assets in the portfolio in western Canada, working with over 35 regulators. This included representing Hungerford Properties and Quadreal on the Xchange Business Park approvals (which continued with Channel Consulting). My role was:- ongoing review of land use regulations and options to move the project forward considering City and provincial policy frameworks, - engagement with staff at the City, Ministry of Transportation and infrastructure, Agricultural Land Commission, Ministry of Jobs, Trade and Technology, FLNRORD, Fisheries and Oceans Canada, First Nations groups, and adjacent landowners,- facilitating meetings, planning subject matter expert presentations, and preparing quality submissions to City and other government staff to ensure stakeholders are aligned in advancing the project. From 2018 and 2020, I worked in-house as Director of Planning in-house at Hungerford Properties and oversaw government and stakeholder engagement for real estate assets in all jurisdictions across western Canada. For the entire portfolio of real estate assets, I was responsible for land use approvals and government relations, overseeing relationships with politicians and staff with all levels of government and First Nations from acquisition, throughout development approvals, and lastly, through disposition.

My company Channel represents port terminal clients who are seeking land use approvals, project permits and lease agreements in the jurisdiction of the Port of Vancouver. My team is currently working with the port and a Canadian grain company on a grain terminal expansion proposal. This includes overseeing government relations and leading preparation of the PER application, municipal engagement, discussions with the trade development team, as well as overseeing preparations for VFPA lease discussions.In my previous role as Manager of Planning and Development at the port, I was responsible for the port authority’s Project and Environmental Review (PER) permitting process and development of land use plans and commodity sector strategies for port properties. I represented the port’s interests in external land use and infrastructure planning initiatives, worked closely with all levels of government, port customers, and stakeholders, and lead collaboration with other port departments.

Channel represented Fisheries and Oceans Canada in their work with the District of North Vancouver on the Capilano Fish Hatchery Renewal project. I continue to provide advice to applicants of purpose-built rental housing as well as proponents seeking to understand the risks and opportunities of minor applications, considering the current Council's priorities.When I worked at DNV, I was responsible for planning and development of major community infrastructure. In this role, I honed my expertise in government relations related to complex land use approvals. The most impactful project on my career was the Lower Lynn Interchange partnership of the three levels of government. It was at DNV that I established my reputation in the Vancouver region for keeping controversial projects on-track through political/public pressure and ensure that municipal interests are well-represented with regular collaboration and engagement with government, First Nations and community stakeholders (including Province of BC, TransLink, Metro Vancouver, neighbouring municipalities, First Nations, advocacy groups, etc), as well as the Executive team and municipal Council.

Channel continues to advise clients on land use, zoning and government relations related to transit-oriented development proposals in the Vancouver region.I was a key member of strategic team working on transit-oriented development, reduced parking, Marine Gateway Plan, and sustainable funding for TransLink. Our team developed long term network expansion and funding plans, reporting directly to the Executive, Mayors Council, and Board.

I worked closely with communities to develop long term plans to improve health, community connectedness, mobility and access.
