What is the JRA scheme? At Sussex, most of our undergraduate research takes place within our Junior Research Associate (JRA) scheme. The eight-week programme is offered to all of our high performing undergraduate students over the summer. If you're accepted on to the scheme, you get a bursary to work on your research full time, work closely with supervisors, and network with other researchers.You'll also attend training workshops and have access to University resources.At the end of the scheme, you'll put together a research poster which is displayed at our Undergraduate Research Poster Exhibition. The top two posters are chosen to represent Sussex at the British Conference of Undergraduate Research (BCUR) annual Posters in Parliament exhibition. Since 2008, more than 450 students have participated in the programme - including students from Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS) and there are special provisions for Sussex Neuroscience students.

The Connector Programme sees students and staff at the University of Sussex working as equal partners; learning, innovating and co-creating together to improve the student experience.This project will appoint two Connectors who will work with Professor Claire Smith and the Head of Technology Enhanced Learning. The project will gives students and staff the opportunity to co-create and inform how Sussex develops the Digital Learning experience for students. Applicants do not need experience in technology or knowledge of digital learning to apply – your individual perspective as a student will be the most valuable contribution to this project.Connectors will assist in taking forward projects brought to the Digitally Enhanced Education Programme (DEEP) (the group responsible for Digital components of learning that feeds into the top level University Education Committee) and in working directly with Directors of Teaching and Learning, Directors of Student Experience and nominated individuals in schools who can feed into developing the Digital Experience for students.The project will:- Provide a direct connection between faculty and students in the area of Digital Learning.- Inform, by means of co-creation, the work of DEEP and the University’s digital education agenda.- Support the evaluation of impact of digital projects initiated by DEEP.
