Patient & Community Outreach Intern
CurrentThe Patient and Community Outreach internship is an ideal opportunity for anyone interested in pursuing a career in patient advocacy, healthcare education, public health, human services, or other similar fields while making a difference in the lives of people affected by blood cancers. I was trained in many areas of the Patient Community Outreach department internship, which included connecting with patients, discussing their cancer journey, and offering resources and support to help aide them better in any way possible. Furthermore, I created education materials promoting LLS nutritional services called PearlPoint which was my focus area throughout this internship for my project. My Responsibilities included but was not limited to:- Welcome newly diagnosed patients and their family members to LLS and provide them with local chapter resources.- Assist with planning educational events and other patient support opportunities- Connect with local healthcare professionals to update and maintain local hospital/clinic resource libraries with LLS materials.- Work with Patient and Community Outreach Manager to increase outreach and support to underserved communities and those with unmet needs throughout the region.
