Acting Program Coordinator for the Pathways After School Special (P.A.S.S.) Program running in 13 different sites across York Region.

• Conducted and analyzed research with local stakeholders by hosting focus groups to identify gaps and strengths in the existing program curriculum• Developed a sustainable 4 year women’s empowerment curriculum, including individual lesson plans for each class, surrounding themes of self-identity, sexual education, leadership and social justice • Infused social justice within the existing women’s empower curriculum to better prepare students to achieve program mission of creating community leaders• Taught empowerment courses to both students and teachers as a model of best practices within the field• Adhered to principles of community development and anti-oppressive practice through reflexive action, collaborative practice and sustainable development

• Administered and managed the Tropicana Summer Jobs for Youth (SJFY) Program offering first time employment opportunities to at-risk youth within a priority community in Toronto, ON• Recruited 300 youth applicants conducting interviews, screening and selection for a ministry funded program of 47 available positions• Oversaw a caseload of 47 youth, working directly with 25 offering support, guidance and training with primary regards to employment and any other issues which may have arouse • Advocated on behalf of registered program participants to employers and supervisors to ensure their successful completion of the SJFY Program• Built strong community ties by networking with employers, host agency, and youth to ensure the continuation of the SJFY Program within the community for future years• Drafted and completed bi-weekly quantitative and qualitative reports in accordance with Ministry standards to highlight success and struggles of the SJFY Program offering recommendations for improvement where necessary• Managed the operations and activities of the employment center consisting of 2 staff members, 47 registered youth and 20 employers including the planning, administration and control of program budget, equipment and support services

• Conducted evaluative research for the municipality by designing and facilitating a youth focus group to identify the needs of current social assistance users and identify gaps within the TESS system • Participated in the planning, outreach, and implementation of various city initiatives including Toronto Fire Services, Investing in Youth and Partnership to Advance Youth Employment among others to improve employment opportunities for youth • Provided individual job support for employable Ontario Work participants including resume and interview preparation• Addressed the needs of individual service users and provided support and referrals to appropriate services and agencies to ensure a holistic understanding of their situations

• Conducted HIV/AIDS outreach and awareness programs at local schools to educate youth on the epidemic, safe sexual practices and performed condom demonstrations• Conducted HIV/AIDS testing at rural village outreaches among community members, following safe handling procedures and ensuring confidentiality of results • Navigated through societal and culturally taboo topics such as same-sex relations and condom use in a sophisticated manner, providing full, factual and accurate information to students while not offending or imposing on agency values• Practiced culturally appropriate methods of engagement to de-stigmatize the topic of AIDS and foster a safe environment providing room for discussion• Created a resource manual to outline the program scope and assist future participants in mental, emotional and physical preparation for a change in culture and environment
