Project Manager for several $100K Production Image Quality Test Sets (IQTS) used as last step to screen production parts. DLP®'s primary product is the DMD. The DMD is a microelectromechanical system (MEMS) device. The DMD is utilized in projection applications in business, TV, and cinema. It requires custom test equipment that TI builds itself.• Provided excellent overseas and local technical support for Assembly and Test (A/T) sites to reduce production IQTS down time. • Documented several key procedures to reduce support costs, increase self-reliance of A/T sites, and improve the engineering team’s productivity.• Developed production firmware on schedule using TI proprietary software tools to screen high volume DMDs. • Facilitated technology introduction from within DLP® to make testing capabilities on par with customer product usage. Resulted in reduced Out Of Box (OOB) issues, improved customer satisfaction, and augmented Failure Analysis (FA) capabilities.

Teamed with several high-profile OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) to accelerate development of DLP® into their products.• Collaborated with lamp manufacturers to develop advanced technologies to improve image quality while reducing system level cost for OEMs.• Facilitated the transfer of SmoothPicture™ and DynamicBlack™ technologies into DLP® TV products providing a competitive advantage for OEMs.• Trained application engineering team on how to use new lamp technologies to support other OEMs.• Used TI proprietary software to develop production firmware for OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) allowing them to meet their schedules.

Contributed to the “$3K tabletop TV” project that enabled DLP® TV’s to be micro-display market leader.• Collaborated with key OEMs on television designs to create first DLP® televisions accelerating time to market.• Developed the SmoothPicture™ module and DynamicBlack™ aperture used for important technology demonstrations at CES and CEDIA tradeshows.• Trained OEMs and suppliers about important mechanical and optical parameters needed for successful products.

Selected to be on team to create and introduce cinematic digital projection to the film industry.• Designed key components of the 1st DLP Cinema® Prototype displayed in Hollywood and enabled TI to get studios to support, endorse, and promote the product.• Developed and implemented DLP Cinema® industry interface standards for lamp consoles involving multiple vendors.• Designed Tabletop console around existing spotlight solution that is still in use today in Hollywood telecine setups.• Developed sections of the Mark IV and Mark V TI projection heads to resolve thermal issues resulting from high wattage Xenon lamps.• Constructed specialized water cooling system for DMDs used in Mark IV and Mark V system.• Developed and patented a lamp alignment device for safe bore sight of large Xenon lamps in theater lamp houses.• Developed and patented a sheet metal insert that is used in movie theater lamp house reflectors to keep the coating on the reflector cooler.

Designed and built key test equipment to manufacture DLP Cinema® prism assemblies.• Created first intermediate interface block to be used to reduce test time for high-volume production DMDs, thereby saving TI money and increasing efficiency of test equipment

Collaborated to reduce the noise level of a future projector concept while maintaining current thermal profile.• Developed an innovative patented solution to solve the problem of projector noise, while providing the airflow needed to cool the lamp and electronics.
