In addition, I serve as the senior development professional in lifetime testamentary gifts, and is responsible for providing leadership for the implementation and administration of the campus-wide gift planning program, in accordance with industry best practices. As the Donor Relations Officer I participate in all aspects of carrying out The Winston-Salem Foundation’s philanthropic services plan and concentrate my philanthropic services efforts primarily on cultivating and expanding relationships with donors. I have a working knowledge of charitable and gift planning strategies and tools and work cooperatively with the Philanthropic Services department, as well as with all other Foundation staff. Some of my duties include:• Manage a portfolio of donors for cultivation and stewardship• Develop and maintain relationships with new and current donors through phone calls, personal visits, and written correspondence• Maintain a current knowledge of philanthropic trends and legislation that impacts the field of philanthropy• Create opportunities to educate donors about the greater community in order to broaden their personal philanthropy• Engage current fund advisors in the Foundation’s community grantmaking process by promoting Grantmaking Partners and providing current information about local grantees

Responsible for fundraising and raising community awareness of projects managed by the North Carolina Housing Foundation. Veterans Helping Veterans Heal is a 24 bed transitional housing program for chronically homeless veterans and The Commons provides independent living skills and housing services for three classes of individuals: adults with Autism, children aging out of the foster care system, and homeless families. I created and managed fundraising events including annual fundraisers and a variety of other local fundraising activities. The events I developed and executed were designed to enhance local community awareness, while supporting and advancing the development of a medical clinic that provides services to low income, uninsured citizens of Rockingham County. In this position I was responsible for researching, preparing and submitting grant proposals that became a big part of the funding for the clinic. I enjoyed having a positive impact on the lives of the persons served and the community.

In my role as Director of Community Relations I was the liaison between the non-profit, our communities and our clients with disabilities. I thoroughly enjoyed attending, creating and hosting community events and workshops that supported our mission. I helped the organization to spread the message of its mission which is "Empowering individuals with disabilities: growth, dignity, choice." The work I did had a direct and positive impact on our clients and the community at large.
