Covering Wichita State athletics on a daily basis with an emphasis on the men's basketball team. Writing everything from in-depth profiles on athletes and coaches to film breakdowns on basketball games to enterprise stories to breaking recruiting news.

Responsible for daily coverage of high school sports in the Wichita area, which spanned three different counties and more than 70 schools. Not only writing stories, but also kept track of statistics and standings for all 14 sports in the area and also focused on growing my social media presence.

Was the first correspondent in more than a decade to have a featured story on 1A. Within months of starting, was asked to cover the Wichita State women's basketball beat position despite being an 18-year-old correspondent. Routinely relied upon to cover the biggest high school sporting events, stories and athletes.

Wrote in-depth feature stories for a monthly high school sports magazine.

A web site created and operated entirely by myself covering high school cross country and track and field in the Wichita area. Identified an under-represented sport and provided in-depth coverage like never before with feature stories, statistics and race projections. Was very popular among the running community and also a reason why I was eventually hired by The Wichita Eagle to cover high school sports.

A local weekly newspaper where I wrote anywhere between six and 12 stories weekly on the high school sports teams from local communities in Goddard, Cheney and Clearwater. Essentially wrote the entire sports section and was a good way of developing relationships with coaches and athletic directors.

Awarded one of the few paid internships and worked in the Stories of the Ages department, a special section reserved for in-depth stories. Coordinated teams for two separate projects, organizing plans for the designers, photographers and video editors to produce what became award-winning content. Also received professional training for writing, audio and video editing and social media.
