Worked in the Medina Lab l on the project “Bazedoxfine inhibits STAT3 phosphorylation in Multiple Myeloma Cells”investigating the ability of the drug Bazedoxfine on disrupting the tumour viability. Also helped maintain tumour microenvironment related projects.• Applied methods from pancreatic cancer models to find new relevant drug targets of Bazedoxfine in Myeloma models• Used MM cells lines as a pre-clinical model to demonstrate that Bazedoxifene inhibited cell replication and induced cell death • Ran ELISA assays to check for the presence of STAT-3 phosphorylation before and after drug treatments• Maintained cell cultures and made media, ensuring all cells and reagents remained accurately prepared and sterile

Helped conduct lab research on the general properties of genetic systems. Maintained and used both drosophila and duckweed plant samples.• Created and maintained habitats to keep drosophila specimens healthy and promote breeding• Assisted on a project to recreate sexual reproduction in duckweed plants to compare them to usual asexual reproduction methods • Maintained stock of duckweed samples from domestic, and overseas collection points to keep them ready for analysis

I was placed as a student aide in the Provincial Drug Reimbursement Programs Unit. During my time here, I was responsible for compiling a directory of sites from which the company received reimbursement forms as well as the relevant contacts at each sites. This directory is used in order to send out pertinent newsletters regarding changes in policies in addition to regular correspondence. I was also put in charge of updating drug enrolment forms by translating the commands from the in-house app, to a language more easily understood by those using the forms themselves thus helping to facilitate the ease at which cancer patients could receive reimbursement for their medications.Additionally I was tasked with the collection of data from patient enrolment forms and supporting documents pertinent to Azacitidine from various electronic and physical components.

Worked on a comparison of the MGH In House ISHAGE based Stem Cell Enumeration assay and a new BD Stem Cell Enumeration kit. Shadowed and assisted in general BMT lab duties.• Analyzed data from Cord blood, autologous, marrow, and allogenic blood samples to determine comparability between the assays • Observed and helped in the separation of CD34 cells and cryopreservation of samples for later transplant and downstream analysis • Conducted general lab maintenance to ensure smooth function of the facility and its machines
