Born in 1951 in Kettering, Northamptonshire, UK, Rayson undertook a Drawing Office Apprenticeship with Rolls-Royce Aerospace, Derby, UK. Graduating magna cum laude B.Eng (Hons) Mechanical Sciences from the University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology (UWIST) receiving an M.Sc in Manufacturing Technology from the Victoria University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST) in 1982.Became a manager at Bridgeport Machines Inc. and RHP Bearings Ltd producing machine tools for the automotive/aerospace industry. Also a UK’s first Teaching Company Associate, with Platt Saco Lowell (textile machinery) identifying and selecting CAD/CAM Systems. He was Principal Lecturer at Trent Polytechnic (Nottingham Trent University) lecturing in mechanical engineering and manufacturing systems. Becoming a CAD/CAM Technical Consultant for McDonnell Douglas Information Systems (MDILS), St Louis, Missouri operating in UK. Joined ComputerVision Inc., Boston, Mass; a global CAD/CAM vendor, became VP Aerospace Operations. Worked with the Directors of Rolls-Royce Aerospace facilitating their transition to large-scale computer-aided design for the TRENT 800 engine program and digital collaboration with Boeing on the 777 aircraft program. ComputerVision technology enabled full Electronic Product Definition (EPD) of large complex engineering products. Subsequently worked with Airbus Directors in Bristol, Toulouse, Hamburg and Madrid establishing the Airbus Concurrent Engineering (ACE) facility in Toulouse for the A320 aircraft program and web enabled data management, known as Product Lifecycle Management Systems (PLMS). In 2000; became a senior fellow at the University of Warwick, Warwick Manufacturing Group (WMG) on the Ford Premium Vehicle Program. Then Associate Director of the Technology Innovation Centre (TIC), Birmingham City University, UK. He is now a biotech co-founder, with Dr Michael Fossel, of Telocyte, focussed on age-related diseases particulary Alzheimer's disease.
