“Love at first sight!” “Head over heels!”“I’ve fallen for you, hook, line and sinker!” is probably more apt given the industry and yes I am referring to work! The Maritime industry baited me from my days at Swansea when I was studying for my Masters in Maritime and Commercial Law. My voyage, thus far, has criss crossed the commercial seas as a Pricing Analyst overseeing global logistics contracts, sailing onto be a Charterer for a Ship Owner and Operator profitably managing a global fleet of oil tankers for over a decade, contributing over USD 100M in revenue per annum. My last voyage at a Cargo Owner proved to be the most meaningful, I discovered I was not working within my purpose. It was a perfect storm. At the helm of a ship is a man or woman, humans and they mobilise our industry. I needed to reroute. I needed to change my voyage orders for and on behalf of these people. The men and women who have enabled, in fact, anchored my career to date. Relationships are my business. For close to two decades, I have built and nurtured a diverse, and mutually beneficial professional network within the Ship Owner, Shipbroker, Oil Major and Refiners, Legal, Insurance, Ship Operations and Management sectors, globally. Leveraging on these relationships, I aim to amplify the contributions of seafarers worldwide. Within my network and beyond, I will expand my sphere of influence to bring about and drive change, importantly normalising diversity and inclusion within the Maritime and Shipping industry.
