Youth And Family Counsellor
Current- Working on Bowness campus on a rotational schedule of 12hr shifts.
- The youth on Bowness campus are ages 12-17 with complex diagnoses. Youth presenting with violence, fire-setting, running and substance use as behaviours on the escalation and outburst phase of the Crisis Cycle Model.
- Upholding a therapeutic milieu. Supporting youth with life skills, attending court dates, doctor’s appointments, and day-to-day living. Conducting Life Space Interviews (LSI’s). Only using Therapeutic Crisis.
- Skilled in de-escalation strategies. Such as emotional first aid to co-regulate emotions, maintain lines of communication for an eventual collaborative plan development. Behaviour support such as hurdle help.
- Meeting with Clinicians daily and youth’s therapists and implementing High-Risk plans and trauma informed therapeutic strategies.
- Documenting Crises on the Penelope software. Working with youth’s case workers, SACIS, and CPS to advocate for youth receiving the support they need and ensuring the safety of all youth on campus.
