As Director I manage the Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity (METCO) program within Swampscott. Responsibilities include overseaing the recruitment, selection, and placement of METCO students. Monitor student academic progress and provide support services as needed. Coordinate with district staff, parents, and guardians to ensure a smooth transition for METCO students while also adressing social and emotional needs of METCO students. Facilitate cultural enrichment activities and programs. Collaborate with school counselors to develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for METCO students with special needs. Recruit, hire, and supervise METCO staff, including tutors, mentors, and paraprofessionals. Provide professional development opportunities for staff. Evaluate staff performance and provide feedback. Build and maintain strong relationships with METCO families, district staff, and community partners, collaborating with community organizations to provide additional support services to METCO students such as our Family friends program.
